Christopher J. Niehaus
Christopher J. Niehaus was elected to W. P. Carey's Board of Directors in 2016, where he serves as Non-Executive Chair of the Board as well as Chair of the Investment Committee and as a member of the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee. Mr. Niehaus is a Managing Partner at BentallGreenOak, an independent, partner-owned real estate principal investing and advisory firm, where he is responsible for its U.S. business and serves as a member of its Global Investment Committees.
Previously, Mr. Niehaus spent 28 years at Morgan Stanley, where he played a pivotal role in building and managing one of the world's leading global real estate banking, lending, and investing businesses. He was named Head of Global Real Estate Investment Banking in 1994 and Vice Chairman of Morgan Stanley Real Estate from 2006 to 2010. He also served as an Investment Committee Member for the Morgan Stanley Real Estate and Special Situations Fund from 1994 to 2010.
Mr. Niehaus is a trustee of the International Council of Shopping Centers. He serves on the Executive Board of the President's Leadership Council of Dartmouth College and is Chair of the Board of Student Sponsor Partners, a charitable organization that provides scholarships and mentoring to 1,200 at-risk, inner-city New York City high school students. He has previously served on the boards of private equity real estate companies in the U.S., Europe and Asia.
