I am a Vice President in Internal Audit, where I help minimize operational and financial risk across the company. Our team partners with stakeholders throughout W. P. Carey to evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls and support a strong risk management environment.
What I enjoy most about Internal Audit is serving as a trusted business partner. We work across nearly every department, which provides a unique view of how the organization operates. When we identify ways to strengthen controls, we collaborate with management to develop practical solutions that reduce risk and enhance processes. It's a highly collaborative function that helps drive continuous improvement across the business.
Describe your career journey.
My path into Internal Audit was unexpected. I attended Union College, where I majored in Managerial Economics and Psychology, and initially planned to pursue a career in one of those fields. After graduation, a PwC partner and fellow Union alumnus reached out about a position at the firm. I viewed the interview as a chance to gain experience and sharpen my interviewing skills, so I accepted the meeting.
During that conversation, he introduced me to the true nature of Internal Audit. It's not just about identifying issues. It's about building relationships, solving problems and helping organizations improve. That discussion completely changed my perspective and ultimately led me to join PwC.
I spent six years with PwC in Boston and New York before joining MetLife as an IT Audit Senior Manager. While both experiences were incredibly valuable, they provided only a snapshot of the organizations I supported. I wanted a broader understanding of how businesses operate and how risks connect across an enterprise.
That desire brought me to W. P. Carey, where I've now spent 12 years. From the beginning, it felt like a place where I could build a long-term career, and it continues to feel that way today.
